Penny Cyclopaedia. 27 vols, London 1833-1843. Set presented by the Committee and Friends of the Prescot Mechanics' Institution to W H Barlow on his leaving England, 1 June 1849. It is interesting to note that Philip Russell sent the fourth number of the Penny Cyclopaedia to his brother George in 1837 to provide him with reading matter on his squatting run in the Port Philip District: Russell, Narrative, p 134.
